Information for JPs
There will be a temporary moratorium on the processing of applications for appointment as a new JP, from 8 September 2014 to early December 2014.
During this period, the Department of Justice is unable to accept completed application forms, and will instead return them to applicants.
The application process for appointment as a JP is changing. We will publish information about the new process on the JP website, later in 2014. If you would like to be notified when application processing recommences, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
During October and November 2014, we will be contacting every JP with important news about their appointments.
If you've changed your email address (or haven't given us one yet), please update your contact details using our online form.
JPs who do not have an email address will also receive this important news in due course by ordinary post.
Before you perform any further functions as a JP, please take the time to read the new JP handbook. It is available for free download. Every procedure has changed in some way. There is more thorough guidance, additional tips to avoid common risks, and answers to all your frequently-asked questions.
