Information for JPs
Before you perform any further functions as a JP, please take the time to read the new JP handbook. It is available for free download. Every procedure has changed in some way. There is more thorough guidance, additional tips to avoid common risks, and answers to all your frequently-asked questions.
Purchased copies of the new JP handbook are still awaiting printing and delivery. We apologise for the delay.
A delay has occurred because the JP handbook includes a copy of the JP Code of Conduct. The Code is currently subject to review. To ensure the printed copy is the most up-to-date version of the JP handbook, we are waiting until the final wording of the Code is confirmed before printing the handbook.
The JP Section has records of all purchases of the new JP handbook and will be sending the printed copies out as soon as possible. We expect that the handbook will now be delivered before the end of March.
In the meantime, the JP handbook is freely available here.
Issue 3 of JP News, the official newsletter for JPs in NSW, is being sent to all JPs by email or post during January and February. It highlights key changes in the new JP Handbook and other matters of interest to JPs.
You can also read Issue 3 and previous issues on this website.
The Code of Conduct for JPs in NSW is currently under review. An updated version is expected to be released in March 2014.
