Information for JPs
Before you perform any further functions as a JP, please take the time to read the new JP handbook. It is available for free download. Every procedure has changed in some way. There is more thorough guidance, additional tips to avoid common risks, and answers to all your frequently-asked questions.
Printed copies of the new JP handbook will be mailed between 3 and 10 April 2014 to JPs who have ordered them.
Printing was delayed so that the printed copies can include the latest version of the Code of Conduct for JPs. The Code of Conduct has been reviewed and updated, and required the approval of the Governor.
We apologise for the delay and thank you for your understanding.
Issue 3 of JP News, the official newsletter for JPs in NSW, was sent to all JPs by email or post during January and February. It highlighted key changes in the new JP Handbook and other matters of interest to JPs.
You can read Issue 3 and previous issues on this website.
The review of the JP Code of Conduct is now complete. The updated version of the Code of Conduct comes into effect on 1 May 2014.
You can read and download a copy of the updated Code of Conduct at this website.
